Abacus Classic Partner · Zurich and Lucerne

The partner no longer fits. The Abacus Software does.

Switching your sales partner is not an ERP project.

Your Abacus licence belongs to you. You can change the support without changing the software, without migrating data, and without retraining the team. We take over existing installations and show you exactly what that means beforehand.

Process

Five steps, four to eight weeks.

The pacing factor is almost always the notice period on your existing contract, not the technical handover.

  1. Baseline

We take stock of what's there: version, modules, licence scope, hosting, open items and custom adjustments. Free and non-binding, even if you decide to stay where you are.

    1 to 2 hours
  2. Takeover proposal

You receive in writing what we take over, who your dedicated contact is, what ongoing support costs, and what the one-off effort for the baseline handover will be.

    Within one week
  3. Termination and notice

You terminate the existing support contract. We provide the documents and, together with you, notify Abacus Research AG of the partner change. Your licence and annual maintenance keep running without interruption.

    Depends on your notice period
  4. System handover

We take over access, system documentation and open cases, go through the configuration and document it so it stays readable without us. You keep working normally throughout.

Half a day to a day
  5. Operations

Dedicated contact person, ticket system, planned updates. If topics were left open — an old version, unused modules, missing automation — we prioritise them with you instead of tackling them all at once.

    Ongoing
What changes and what doesn't

So we're all on the same page.

Area When you switch partner
Software and version Stays untouched. Switching partner is not switching ERP.
Your data Stays where it is. No migration, no export, no rebuild of tenants.
Licence Continues to sit with your company. It is not repurchased and not transferred.
Maintenance fee to Abacus Unchanged. It depends on your modules, not on your partner.
Customisations and reports Stay in the system. Exception: custom-coded pieces owned by your previous partner — we clarify these upfront.
Team training None needed. The interface is the same as yesterday.
Support and helpdesk This is the part that actually changes. New contact person, new ticket system, new support contract.
Hosting Can stay where it is. A move to the cloud is possible, but a separate project.
Preparation

What we need for the baseline.

If you have these ready, we can already give you something concrete in the first conversation. If something is missing, we find it out together.

Free and non-binding

Assess my switch.

Tell us briefly what your setup looks like. We get back to you within one business day with an honest assessment — including the answer that a switch is not worth it for you, if that's the case.

By submitting you agree to our privacy notice. We will not contact your previous partner.
Why us specifically

We're the same customer we support.

Aeberli Digital is the digital team of Aeberli Treuhand AG. What we recommend runs in our own operation first. When you call us, you're speaking to someone doing the same year-end close as you.

01

Fiduciary know-how included

VAT, AHV, Swissdec, ELM. Questions about wage types and closing land with someone who can answer them from expertise.

03

We say no as well

If your current partner fundamentally fits and the problem is elsewhere, we tell you. A switch without benefit helps no one.

Common questions

What clients want to know upfront.

Yes. The Abacus licence sits with your company, not with your sales partner. A partner switch only concerns support, helpdesk and the maintenance contract. The software, its configuration and your data stay untouched.

No. In a pure partner switch, the installation stays where it is. There is no data migration, no export and no rebuild of tenants. Only if you also want to move from an own server to the cloud does migration come into play — that is a separate project with its own budget.

From the first conversation to full handover, a partner switch usually takes four to eight weeks. The main driver is the notice period on your existing support or maintenance contract, not the technical effort.

The licence itself costs nothing extra, and the annual maintenance fee to Abacus stays the same. The only effort is the baseline handover by the new partner. For a cleanly documented standard installation, that's roughly half to a full day rate.

Yes, the existing support contract has to be terminated properly. We notify Abacus Research AG together with you. The conversation with your current partner is yours to have — we prepare you for it and supply the documents.

Standard customisations like forms, reports and AbaReport definitions stay in your system and are not lost. Care is only needed with custom code owned by your previous partner. Whether such items exist and how to handle them we clarify in the baseline, before you sign anything.

Outside year-end close and not directly before a major update. In practice, March to October works best. If the pain is high, any time is better than none.

We take open items into the baseline and move them into our ticket system. Cases already open with Abacus Research AG continue and get reassigned to us.

Yes. An old version is not an obstacle to switching — it's often one of the reasons for it. We record the current state and show you which update path is needed and what it costs, before you decide.

Yes. We take over the functional support regardless of where Abacus runs: on your own server, at a hosting provider or in the Abacus Cloud. Switching hosting is possible, but not a prerequisite to work with us.
